Bray Architects Legacy

The firm, William M. Bray, AIA, Architect and Associates, Inc., was founded in 1949, incorporated in 1953, and the name was later changed to Bray Architects after the passing of its founder, William M. Bray (1905-1998).  The current President of Bray Architects (1994-present), Roger Winston Bray, Architect, AIA, NCARB, was mentored by and for over twenty years (1974-1998) served alongside master architect William M. Bray, AIA, NCARB, designing quality buildings of all types and styles.  The firm is credited for having shaped California architecture and planning, particularly, in Southern California, where dozens of fine commercial buildings, golf courses, custom homes and master-planned communities designed throughout the years by Bray Architects have earned the “Historical District” and ’Historical Neighborhood” official designations.
   
Bray Architects continues a 70 year legacy of inspiration and excellence in partnership with discerning clientele.

We designed thousands of fine tract development homes for many different developers and Bray Architects designed the personal homes of these developers.  Bray Architects designed and built structures include thousands of fine tract development homes for Mark Taper, founder-owner of American Savings; and also the personal home of Mark Taper in Beverly Hills.  We designed thousands of fine tract development homes for Barry Taper, son of Mark Taper; and Bray Architects designed the personal home of Barry Taper in Beverly Hills.  Bray Architects designed thousands of fine tract development homes for prolific developer Milton Brock, Sr.; and for Milton Brock, Jr. throughout Southern, Central and Northern California.

William and Roger Bray have provided their support and expertise as: Founding Chair, Bel-Air Architectural Design Review Board, Los Angeles; Original Advisor to Westlake Village Architectural Design Standards, South and North Westlake Village; The American Institute of Architects (AIA), Los Angeles and San Fernando Valley Leadership, and Design Review Boards.  William and Roger Bray have both served as President of the American Institute of Architects, San Fernando Valley Chapter.  William Bray served as Senior Member, Woodbury University, Board of Directors; and as Advisor, Architecture Department, Los Angeles Trade-Technical College.  Roger Bray served as Regent, the American Institute of Architects California Council, Architectural Foundation; Advisor, Woodbury University School of Architecture.  Roger Bray served the American Institute of Architects, San Fernando Valley as Chair, Disaster Preparedness Committee; Chair, Architectural Design Awards; Chair, Events Committee, and several other American Institute of Architects, San Fernando Valley Committees.  Roger Bray served as Co-Chair, Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce Architectural Design Awards; Architect Member, Board of Directors, Frank Lloyd Wright Ennis House; Member, American Institute of Architects, Los Angeles, Building and Performance Standards Committee; and has served many other worthwhile organizations.  Roger Bray represented the United States at the World Congress on Land Policy at Harvard University and MIT, Boston, Massachusetts.
