Mount Zion Baptist Church of San Fernando, California had a great need for major updates to their building. This involved adding a new Baptistry; a new stage and podium; with new access to both the audience level, and from the sides of the stage. All of this was accomplished within a confined existing area, and all of which had to meet Code.
The congregation called upon Bray Architects to accomplish this. Roger Winston Bray, Architect, AIA, NCARB, designed a plan that implemented a wheelchair lift gently inserted into the stage; and new Baptistry, gently inserted into the stage. All access to, and within these areas met Code. The new podium was designed to be quietly inspirational.
Bray Architects drew inspiration from the warmth of the congregation and its leaders. They were a joy to work with on their structure sharing their faith.
